February 26, 2022 – The long-planned St. Edward Alumni Cafe has formally opened today through a short program, following its blessing and dedication. Property Company of Friends, Inc. (PRO-FRIENDS) Chairman Guillermo Choa graced the occasion, together with St. Edward School Principal Dr. John Cabalo, Ruby Ann Gay Lamadrid who is a parent of an alumnus, alumni John Co, Francis Pio and Kristin Iris Sandoval.
In his message, Choa reiterated that Lancaster New City, the flagship project of PRO-FRIENDS where St. Edward School is located, is “not built for houses, but for the community and family life.” Hence, his vision for the newly-opened St. Edward Alumni Cafe is a place for youth to share and exchange their ideas for the community. “[The school] teaches you the basics of education; it is out here that we learn with each other, and we share ideas. Magtagisan kayo ng talino,” Choa said.
Some students who attended the event shared that they were overjoyed to hear about the Alumni Cafe opening. “I felt happy since it’s a place where we can hang-out together, bond and catch up with each other,” shared Jade Tubig, a 2021 Senior High School (SHS) graduate of St. Edward School who is currently taking up Bachelor of Landscape Architecture in UP Diliman.
For Gherico Nazaire, also an SHS alumnus from batch 2021 who is now taking up Legal Management in Centro Escolar University in Makati, the Alumni Cafe is a perfect alternative place where one can study after two years of staying at home due to the pandemic. The same sentiment is shared by Junior High School alumnus and current Student Affairs Council member Cazzandra Lacman, as she invites fellow Edwardian students and alumi to visit the place: “It’s really fun here and the ambiance is really great. If you want to have a study session or just catch up with each other, definitely this is the place to go.”
The blessing and dedication of the Alumni Cafe was spearheaded by St. Edward School faculty and staff, in partnership with Galing LNC and the Parish of the Holy Family. This historic event was witnessed by parents and students, including the alumni from batch 2015 to 2021. The Alumni Cafe is located in St. Edward School Faith Campus.
